The star of David, also known as the "Hebrew Star", is basically two triangles on top of each other. This article will show you how to draw this star.
-
1
Draw an upside down triangle. It should be relatively close to the bottom of your paper.
-
2
Draw another triangle. It should be intersecting the first one, and should be right side up.

3
Draw a border. You can do this by drawing parallel lines next to all of the original lines. Make sure they're parallel.
-
4
Erase the inner lines. You can either make it complicated, or just simply erase all the inner lines. But make sure you erase your lines neatly.
-
5
Color it in. Since Israel's national colors are blue and white, these are recommended.

Question
Is there a given ratio to the pieces (length and width of each arm)?
No, there is not. The format is all up to you! Remember that David in Hebrew is spelled with the letters Dalet + Vav + Dalet. In an ancient version of Hebrew, the Dalet had the form of a triangle. It included two angles at 45 degrees and one at 90 degrees.

Question
How do I shade the picture?
Caleb Miller
Community Answer
Draw little black sections wherever there is a right edge or a section crosses over the other section.
-
Question
Should I use colored pen or colored pencil to shade it?
Either will work. It depends on how thick you want it to be, how thick the paper is, and whether you care if it bleeds through or not.
-
Question
Why is the Star of David sometimes drawn with lines and other times, no lines? Is there a separate meaning for the two styles?
No. It's just a style preference.
-
Question
Are the three sides of the triangle in a Star of David equal?
Yes.
-
Question
Would it be disrespectful if I used a certain type of marker to shade it in?
Sarah Paskow
Community Answer
No, and the kind of marker you use doesn't matter.
-
Question
Do I have to make the star 3D?
Sarah Paskow
Community Answer
Nope! Most people only draw the Star of David in 2 dimensions.
-
Question
Does it matter what color it is?
Usually it doesn't, although it depends on what you are doing. For example, if you are drawing the Israeli flag, it has to be blue.
-
Question
What colors do I use to draw the Star of David?
Any color you want, but yellow is a better choice. You can also draw an outline-less version of it.

You can make this with paper by cutting two triangles out and (one facing up, one facing down) cut and interlock the two triangles
-
You don't have to color or erase the lines
-
If you prefer, you may draw the right-side-up triangle first.
-
One may also start out by drawing a hexagon. Skip the last step 8. Instead of connecting the nearest points one connects the one but nearest points. These lines constitute the star which is then completely symmetrical.
-
Experiment with borders, some are cooler than others.
-
Consider colouring in your drawing.
-
Another method is to Draw a Hexagon and then connect every other angle to form a triangle, and then again connecting every other angle that you skipped before to form an opposing triangle creating, the Star of David.
